CrossFit: A Quick Fix or a Long-Term Training Plan?
If you started a new business how long do you think it would take to become profitable? If you met someone you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, how long did it take to develop that relationship? If you were going to school, how long would it take to obtain a degree?
Nothing great happens over-night. All great things take time and effort to build. The same thing goes for our bodies.
We live in a world of instant gratification. Technology and innovation have made most things readily available at our fingertips. In some cases this is amazing, in other cases it has made us lazy and conditioned to look for quick-fixes and magic pills instead of working our asses off.
In CrossFit we appreciate the people who aren’t afraid to get their hands a little dirty and put in the WORK. We as CrossFitters understand that what we’re doing isn’t a quick fix, it’s a lifelong training plan.
It’s understandable to get frustrated after a few weeks if you aren’t seeing massive results because that’s what a lot of programs and gyms have promised you in the past. “Hey come in for 4 weeks! Lose a bunch of weight and look great naked!” Yikes. We steer our ships in the opposite direction of quick fixes because they have been proven time and time again to not be effective long-term.
As CrossFitters we understand that results come from a continued consistent effort in the gym and in the kitchen and that’s what we deliver to our athletes. If you adopt the mindset of, “This might take me a little while but I will reach my goal” you will be a million times better off than the mindset of, “Oh my gosh I want to lose 30 lbs as quickly as possible.”
We are not a quick fix. We never will be a quick fix. We are however one of the best ways to get in shape on the planet but all we can do is offer our services, it’s up to you to decide to commit and stick with it even when the going gets tough. If you’re looking for a magic pill here it is: Work harder.
Nothing great happens over-night but with small consistent changes daily we can compound our efforts into a much larger sustainable end goal.
